Jaguar Land Rover workers given check-ups after chemical alert

Paramedics from West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS) attended the JLR Solihull site in Lode Lane on Sunday afternoon, along with the hazardous area response team.

It came after a number of staff felt unwell after a floor sealant was applied to a section of the site, the ambulance service said.

A total of 28 workers were assessed, with one person being taken to hospital with minor symptoms.

The hazardous response team from WMAS said: “Today our team alongside senior ambulance officers and ambulance crews responded to a suspected chemical incident at Jaguar Land Rover Solihull.

“Most staff felt symptoms reduce once out of the affected area and in fresh air.”

West Midlands Police and West Midlands Fire Service did not attend the incident.

Our crews initially carried our REMOVE REMOVE REMOVE principles after a number staff complained of feeling unwell following a floor sealant being recently applied to one section of the JLR site. Most staff felt symptoms reduce once out of the affected area and in fresh air.
